NEW YORK, NY / June 8, 2026 Samvid Philanthropies, a philanthropic foundation dedicated to improving lives and advancing society, announced the twenty individuals selected into the sixth cohort of Samvid Scholars (Cohort 6). The Samvid Scholars program empowers mission-driven graduate students with exceptional track records of impact to lead transformative change for society through leadership development, community, and financial support. The program was founded in 2021.

The twenty Scholars in the 2026 cohort were selected from a pool of over 1,000 applicants. Representing thirteen undergraduate institutions and pursuing graduate degrees across law, medicine, and business, the Cohort 6 Scholars join a growing community of over 100 leaders united by a commitment to addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing society today.

The sixth cohort reflects the breadth of issues Scholars seek to address, with focus areas spanning healthcare access, criminal justice reform, clean energy, disability rights, and the intersection of technology and public life. The cohort comprises eight JD candidates, nine MD candidates, and three dual degree MBA candidates.

During their two years as active Scholars, students receive up to $100,000 in funding for their graduate programs, engage in leadership development, and participate in convenings with fellow Scholars and alumni. In year one, they explore their leadership identity, reflecting on their values, strengths, and purpose. In year two, Scholars apply these insights to their Purpose Project, an independent service project in which they test how they will drive change.

This July, Samvid Scholars Cohort 5 and Cohort 6 will come together in-person for a summer conference in New York. Cohort 6 Scholars will participate in seminars co-designed and facilitated by the Aspen Institute to explore key questions of leadership, service, and purpose. They will also join Cohort 5 for community building and Scholar-led discussions on the issues they care about most.

The application for the next cohort of Samvid Scholars will open in early 2027.
