Zina Jawadi is an MBA candidate at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and recently completed her MD at the David Geffen School of Medicine (DGSOM) at UCLA. During medical school, Zina received the Premios Juventud Everyday Hero Award, Oticon Focus on People Adult Award, the David Geffen Medical Scholarship and multiple scholarships from the P.E.O. Foundation. She was honored with the Mary Louise Remy P.E.O. Scholar Award, recognizing her as one of the top P.E.O. national scholars. Prior to her medical degree, Zina earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Stanford University. Zina was recognized by Stanford Politics as one of the Top Most Influential Undergraduates in 2018 and was inducted into the National Gold Humanism Honor Society in 2023.
Zina was diagnosed with hearing loss when she was 3.5 years old and, shortly after, underwent thousands of hours of speech therapy. This experience sparked her interests in otology and innovation. She plans to leverage her background in medicine, engineering, and business to transform outcomes for people with hearing loss and disabilities.
Zina is a lifelong advocate for people with disabilities, successfully helping launch a disability campus center at Stanford. She was elected in 2019 to the Board of Directors of the Hearing Loss Association of America, the nation’s leading nonprofit organization serving people with hearing loss. Previously, she served as a trustee (2013-2019), secretary, vice president, and president (2015-2019) of the Hearing Loss Association of America, California State Association.
Zina is a proud Iraqi American. She enjoys public speaking and was a national oratory finalist in high school. In her free time, Zina loves traveling, exploring Yemeni coffee shops, and meeting friends.
