Stephanie Wang is an MD candidate at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She received her AB with highest honors in Molecular and Cellular Biology and a minor in Global Health and Health Policy from Harvard College, where she graduated summa cum laude and received the Sophia Freund Prize, awarded to students with the highest grade point average. 

Stephanie is passionate about improving care experiences and outcomes for patients with cancer. She completed her undergraduate honors thesis at Boston Children's Hospital under the mentorship of Dr. George Q. Daley, where she developed and applied computational tools to study the generation of “off-the-shelf” hematopoietic stem cells as a potential therapeutic platform for patients with blood cancers. Her earlier research focused on improving the scalability and effectiveness of CAR-T immunotherapies, contributing to publications in Cell Stem Cell and Blood. 

In addition to her scientific research, Stephanie has studied the financial toxicity of cancer care and advocated for policies to lower the prices of lifesaving prescription drugs. Her research and writing in collaboration with Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center have appeared in journals including JAMA Oncology, JAMA Network Open, and the Journal of the National Cancer Institute. In addition to her scholarly work, Stephanie is committed to systems reform through mentorship. She established and led the Health Disparities Think Tank, bringing together hundreds of researchers across dozens of institutions to research and advocate for health equity. 

Stephanie aspires to become a practicing oncologist, scientist, and advocate, leveraging data science to advance more precise, equitable, and patient-centered cancer care. In her free time, she is an avid runner, amateur food critic, and traditional Chinese musician.
