Shreyas Hallur

MD, Harvard University

Shreyas Hallur is an MD candidate at Harvard Medical School, where he aims to bridge community health and long-term care, particularly for autistic people. He graduated with a degree in Statistics and Public Policy from Duke University, where he was an Angier B. Duke Scholar and a Margolis Scholar in Health Policy. In 2023, he was awarded the Rhodes Scholarship to pursue graduate education in Comparative Social Policy and Sociology at the University of Oxford.

Shreyas’ interest in community health and autism care began in high school, when he worked with the Southwest Autism Research and Resource Center to study disparities in autism diagnosis by gender. He continued this work at the Duke Center for Autism and Brain Development, partnering with self-advocates to design a more inclusive autism screening tool. Separately, Shreyas established a coalition of non-profits to make Phoenix-area museums more accessible for autistic visitors – an initiative that has since received over $3 million in funding from the National Science Foundation.

His other work has focused on the funding and accessibility of long-term care. This journey has taken him through Arizona Medicaid, MassHealth, the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Most recently, Shreyas conducted an external review of Arizona Medicaid’s complaints and grievances system for autism services. In medical school, he hopes to continue building community-driven health solutions and address gaps in long-term care for families who fall through our social safety net.

Originally from Phoenix, Shreyas credits his passion for autism care and community health to the mentorship he received in his home community. In his free time, he enjoys reading historical nonfiction, playing Eurogames, and hiking at night.
