Reshini Premaratne is a joint MBA/MS candidate at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability. Before starting at Stanford, she spent the summer at Heron Power, an early-stage grid hardware startup. Reshini is driven by the goal of building the power grid of the future with the capacity to power artificial intelligence and re-industrialization, while ensuring equitable, affordable access to energy for communities. Today the grid falls short on both: development timelines stretch years and household electricity bills keep climbing.

Reshini graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Social Studies and Economics from Harvard College. She began her career at the U.S. Treasury Department, helping direct federal investment to communities hardest hit by COVID-19, then spent four years at Boston Consulting Group, developing power and energy strategy for utilities, federal agencies, military bases, and private developers. She also spent a year on National Grid's US Strategy team, a multinational utility in the Northeast, where she worked on customer technology and infrastructure buildout. She is now starting Kindling, a venture that enables data center developers to directly fund clean residential energy upgrades (heat pumps, rooftop solar, home batteries) in their host communities. Developers gain a faster path to grid capacity and families gain the capital to participate in the energy transition.

Reshini grew up in Richmond, Virginia, the daughter of Sri Lankan immigrants and the youngest of three girls. Outside of work, she writes Plugged In, a Substack on energy topics, and tries out the newest AI use cases. A lifelong figure skater and aspiring distance runner, she loves to travel and try new foods.
