Edward Tran is pursuing an MD at Stanford School of Medicine. He received his bachelor's degree in computer science with distinction and master's degree in management science and engineering (Health Systems Modeling and Policy) from Stanford University. During college, Edward led healthcare quality improvement initiatives at Cardinal Free Clinics, championed mental health reform on campus as Stanford’s Director of Mental Health & Well-Being, and worked with rural communities in Oaxaca, Mexico as a Gilman Scholar.  

Edward's work focuses on improving healthcare access and delivery for underserved communities through technology, systems design, and community-centered care. As a Luce Scholar in Chiang Mai, Thailand, he led the development of a clinical decision-support tool for neonatal jaundice management in clinics along the Thailand-Myanmar border and spearheaded efforts to strengthen hypertension care across primary care clinics by implementing a treatment protocol and building a learning health system. In the U.S., he has built and deployed digital health tools at startups and conducted research spanning cancer immunotherapy, health economics, and AI-driven clinical informatics. His research has been published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology, JAMIA, and the Journal of Global Health, among others. 

Outside of medicine and research, Edward enjoys exploring cafés, traveling, learning languages, and building community through food and conversation.
