Diego Andrades is a JD candidate at Yale Law School, where he plans to study constitutional law, election law, and democratic governance. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Political Science (honors) and Philosophy, Politics, and Law at the University of Southern California (USC), graduating magna cum laude. At USC, Diego served as Chief of Staff of the Undergraduate Student Government and was awarded the Order of the Laurel and Palm, the university's highest student honor recognizing leadership and service.

Most recently, Diego served as a Commissioner on the Los Angeles Charter Reform Commission, where he chaired the Committee on Government Structure. Diego successfully advanced reforms to Los Angeles's governance, including its election infrastructure, the powers of its elected officials, and the size of its city council. Before returning to Los Angeles, Diego served in the Biden-Harris Administration as the Special Assistant to the CEO of AmeriCorps – the federal agency that mobilizes Americans in national service and civic engagement. He also worked as a Legislative and Policy Fellow in Congress, serving both in the House of Representatives and on the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration. Through these experiences, Diego has developed early expertise in election administration, voting rights, and democratic reform. Diego sees Yale Law School as the right place to deepen this work: developing the legal tools to match the institutional questions he’s spent his career asking.

Originally from California, Diego enjoys exploring Los Angeles and trying new restaurants with friends. He is also committed to convincing himself that a late-night spin class, Lagree session, or [solidcore] workout counts as the work-life balance he keeps hearing his peers talk about.
