The 2027 Samvid Scholars Application will open in February 2027.
Program Details
Our programming is designed to deepen each Scholar’s understanding of who they are, what matters to them, and their unique path to impact – and, ultimately, to develop the knowledge and skills required to drive and lead change. To achieve this goal we offer virtual programming, an annual summer conference, campus visits, and alumni support.
Virtual Programming
During the academic year, Scholars engage in virtual, facilitated leadership development sessions, connecting with members of their cohort across campuses and disciplines. Virtual programming varies by year, but examples of these sessions include :
-
- Peer discussion groups focused on personal leadership topics (e.g., values, strengths)
- Expert-led workshops (e.g., theory of change) to enhance Scholars’ purpose projects, which we require as part of the curriculum
- Panels with early and mid-career professionals who serve as models of paths to impact
Annual Summer Conference
Each July, our two most recently selected cohorts come together in person for an annual retreat to reflect on the year ahead. Scholars participate in cohort-specific programming, including seminars co-designed and facilitated by the Aspen Institute and sessions focused on driving change, facilitated by experts in the field. Outside of formal sessions, Scholars enjoy outings and team-building activities to deepen their connection to one another.
Campus Visits
One of the most critical elements of our program is our diverse community of Scholars with varied interests, experiences, and disciplinary focus. To strengthen this community, we visit Scholars on campus each year and host regional dinners for Scholars in different programs. We also meet with Scholars individually to identify how we can support each Scholar’s unique path. Campus visits provide important in-person touchpoints for our team and our Scholars.
Alumni Support
Once Scholars have completed the two-year program, they remain in our community as Alumni. Alumni participate in social events and have access to continued leadership development to stay connected to each other – and committed to their path to impact. Our alumni also serve as mentors for later cohorts of Scholars. We envision our alumni network to be an engine of the cross-disciplinary collaboration, insight, and support required to address the greatest challenges facing society.
